Tithing by Douglas Leblanc
This book is part of Thomas Nelson’s “The Ancient Practices Series”
I just finished reading: Tithing by Douglas Leblanc. The thing that interested me in the book was the topic of discussion. As a Christian, Tithing is probably the most misunderstood spiritual discipline that there is. I am going to be completely honest; the book was not what I expected. I guess I was expecting a “deep” look into this discipline, but did not get that. What I got was a skimming of the surface of this topic. Each chapter or story would draw you in, but there was no depth to it.
Leblanc, a journalist, does do a good job though getting a wide collection of people to explain why they tithe. From this stand point, the book is good because it truly shows people from all sorts of backgrounds. (A true journalistic approach.)
Overall the book was okay. I would suggest it to Christian’s who are already grounded in this discipline, but I would not recommend it to a new Christian who probably does not tithe yet. The reason for that is what I have alluded to throughout this review: there was not enough depth to explain the reasoning behind the practice of tithing.
