Blindfold Me Lord (A Prayer)

Blindfold me Lord.

Blind fold me Lord, because I no longer want to see with my eyes. I want to see with yours.

Blindfold me Lord, because I want to have to trust.

Blindfold me because Lord, I want you to lead.

Blindfold me Lord, so that I won’t rationalize things.

Blindfold me Lord, because I want to follow.

Blindfold me Lord, because I want you to hold my hand.

Blindfold me Lord, so that my faith continues to grow.

Blindfold me Lord, because I want to please you.

Blindfold me Lord.

In the name of Jesus I pray.  Amen.

2 Corinthians 5:7  “For we walk by faith, not by sight”

I’m Praying For

God my heart is heavy today.  I am praying for:

Those who are hurting and don’t know why…

Those who are having relationship problems…

Those who have lost a child…

Those who are battling addictions like pornography, alcohol, or drugs…

Those who feel like they are unappreciated…

Those who are longing for acceptance…

Those who desperately need something to give…

Those who are longing just to feel something…

Those who need a job, but can’t find one…

Those who have been hurt by the church…

Those that I have hurt…

That I literally perspire you…

Most of all Lord, I pray that people come to know that you are with them no matter where they are in life.  No matter what the circumstance you are there watching over them, walking with them hand in hand.

God Wants To Put Tomatoes On Your Sandwich

Monday evening we went to Wendy’s for dinner. My son got a kid’s meal and I got two Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers. When I got them home I noticed that there were no tomatoes on my sandwiches. Evidently, because the price of tomatoes has went up you now have to ask for them if you want them to put them on a sandwich.   This is the craziest thing I have ever heard of.  From now on:  If you want tomatoes, you have to ask.

This made me think about prayer.  Billy Graham said, “Heaven is full of answers to prayer that have never been asked.“  Think about that for a second.

”If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:22 TNIV)

I’m not telling you to go out and pray for a million dollars, but I am telling you that if you are truly seeking God’s Will in your life and ask Him, He will meet those needs.  I think that we sometimes think our problems are too small for God and that it’s a waste of time to ask Him for help or guidance.  God wants to give you tomatoes for your sandwich.

If you have a need for your sandwich (life) ask God for the tomato.

Empty House and Empty People

For the last two months my family and I have driven four hours on Saturday evenings to a town so I can preach on Sunday mornings.  The church has been gracious enough to let us stay in the parsonage so that we don’t have to pay to get a hotel.  The picture you are looking at is the living room.  They have put a card table, bed, and blow-up mattress in the house.  In other words it’s empty.

On the outside of this house you would not know that it’s empty, it looks perfectly fine.  I got up early Sunday morning to pray and go over my notes and I looked around at the empty house.  I couldn’t help but see the parallel between the empty house and people.  Some people look like they got it all together on the outside, but on the inside, they are falling apart and are completely empty.  This applies to both Christians and non-Christians.

I think the key to this can be found in Ezekiel 36:26-27:

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

If you are one of those who feel like an empty house ask God to give you a new heart and fill you with His Holy Spirit.  That emptiness will be filled with love and joy.  You will soon start to feel like a fully furnished house.

Rev II Ten Needs Some Prayer

Okay, I don’t typically do this but I want to introduce you to a truly awesome group of people:  Rev II Ten.  They are a Christian-Rock group from Southern Ohio and they are truly amazing.  I know the lead guitar player well. (He was in my old youth group and their version of  “Let My Words Be Few” will melt your face)  Any rate, below I listed a post they have on their myspace blog asking for prayer.  Guys that’s all I am asking for here:  Prayer!  They have a Kingdom message that speaks of deliverance, healing, and the realization that Christ is Lord.  Please read below and PRAY! (And check out their music)
Hey everyone,
A lot has been going on and we got some awesome news. Rev2Ten was asked to go on a TOUR in the Spring with Our Hearts Hero (www.ourheartshero.com) this past month. We were asked to be the opening act for their 20 city US tour. Due to Terri and Buddy’s jobs, we’re unable to make it to all 20, but we have made a deal to do 10 of the 20 shows across the Eastern United States.

However there is always an extra thing or two that is tagged onto a deal: In this case, the tour has a ‘buy -in’ which is very common. Like a poker player wanting to buy his seat at the table, bands usually have to buy their slot on tour. This helps pay for some of the many expenses that the tour comes across (production, booking fees, etc)
In OUR case, we have to pay $2,500.00 dollars and have it in the hands of the tour manager BY MARCH 14, 2010. THAT IS NEXT SUNDAY.

We need ALL the prayer we can get for this one! We just found out last night that we need the money next Sunday. We don’t have a lot of money in our account and certainly not that much to just throw down the payment. The plan is to have a love offering on March 7th at Cornerstone Nazarene in Wheelersburg, and seek out some private donarship to help pay for this buy in that we need to pay for us to go and tour. Cornerstone is the church that Josiah and Buddy attend and Buddy plays the drums and Josiah play the electric guitar in the praise and worship band there. We’re not wanting to yank anyones chain for money, and we HATE asking for money as much as the next person. We’re asking for prayers prayers prayers. The way we see it is if God can part the Red sea and do all kinds of miracles, $2,500 is a drop in the bucket. We pretty much need a two grand miracle and if we all pray that it would happen, IT CAN happen. Amen?

Thanks for your time, your prayers and God Bless!
All of us from Rev2Ten,
-Josiah, Buddy, Rick, and Terri

I’m Afraid of the Dark

I am afraid of the dark.  There I said it!  I don’t like being outside after it gets dark, especially by myself.  If the trash needs taken out it can wait until the morning.  I have been this way my whole life.  Kind of silly, right?  I have been thinking about that a lot lately and I think it’s more of a fear of the unknown.  I don’t know what’s out there because I can’t see.  I don’t know what’s next.

Today I was reading in Acts 8 and came across the story of Phillip.  Phillip was a man who had a vision from an angel of the Lord to go.  He wasn’t told where he would end up or what he would be doing, but he went.  The amazing part of the story is when an Ethiopian official drove by in a chariot and the Holy Spirit said, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”  What did he do?  He did exactly as he was told.   “Then Philip RAN up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet.”

He RAN.  He did not know what was going to happen or what he would do, but he Ran.  The story goes on to tell how Phillip’s witness lead to the Ethiopian surrendering his life to Christ.  Phillip could have acted like we do sometimes and waited because he was afraid. (Like me and the garbage at night)  But he did not hesitate, he embraced the unknown and Ran.

It is my prayer that when God calls I run.  It is my prayer that when God calls you run.

Cleaning House

Today we have been busy cleaning up the house.  I looked over and I saw our broom sitting there and I was immediately  reminded of our lives.  We are in dire need of God’s cleansing.  We are filthy, unworthy creatures.  But the most amazing thing is that if we ask God to clean our house, He will.

He promises in Jeremiah 33:8 this:  I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me.

So my questions are:  Do you need God to cleanse you.  I there something in your lives that is holding you back from a close, personal relationship with Him?  If so hit you knees immediately and ask God to bring His broom out and clean you up from the inside out.

Wisdom

This is rare…two posts on the same day, but I have to tell you something.  Since December 1, I have been reading a chapter of Proverbs every day along with my other daily readings.  I plan on doing this for the entire year.  My prayer was for God to give me more wisdom…and this is what I felt led to do.  Wondering if anyone wants to join in?
